Last time around I walked through the initial stages of designing the logo for a friend’s Fantasy Football team. If you did not read that post, you can find it here. This time around I want to look at the process once I had a solid grasp on what Scott wanted.
Scott had pointed out two specific elements from the original sketches that he liked, and I needed to 
put those elements together. The first was a small challenge. I needed a realistic, yet stylized silhouette of a runner that conveyed motion and speed. I did a google search to get some ideas of what a runner looks like while sprinting. That didn’t help me too much. Then I decided to search for The Flash (yes, comic book geek here). While that helped a little bit I still needed more. So I started looking 
through any book, magazine and comic book that I had on hand to pull in some inspiration. I even watched people running along the side of the road while I was out driving (not at the same time, mind you).
Finally I had enough input to craft a runner. I used an app on my iPad (Sketchbook Pro in case you are wondering) to draw a runner silhouette and then imported that image into my MacBook. From there I dropped the image into Adobe Illustrator and masked out the silhouette so I could use it over anything else I decided to use. For this instance I decided to go with a simple circle with a radial gradient in the center. Placing the runner in the circle looked too simple for me so I decided to make the runner larger than the circle, almost as if he is too fast to be contained.
