Recently I had the pleasure of designing a logo for my friend, Scott. He saw one that I had created for my fantasy football (yup, football nerd here) team and asked me to create one for him. Excited at the prospect, I jumped at the chance. After I was done with the project, I thought it would make for a nice short blog series that walks you through my process.
The first step for this logo was to sketch out some ideas. Normally I would sit down with a client and discuss their desires for the end result, but I have known Scott for years and I felt that I had a good idea of what he might be looking for. I came up with 7 different sketch ideas and shared them with him.
I walked him through each sketch, sharing why each one was on the page, and gave him an opportunity to comment on the ones that he liked. Ultimately, Scott pointed out elements from two different designs and expressed his desire to see those elements merged. From that input I set out to get my hands dirty and create something solid.
